New Delhi: A video of a large number of people gathering near a mosque, violating lockdown and social distancing norms has gone viral on social media. The caption falsely claims that the video is from Delhi’s Daryaganj area.
Hundreds of people can be seen walking towards the mosque in the 15-second video.
Akali Dal leader Manjinder S. Sirsa shared the video on Twitter and tagged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of “pushing every resident of Delhi to death by blowing away social distancing norms”.
The tweet had garnered over 3,000 retweets and more than 5,000 likes before Sirsa deleted it Wednesday night.
On Twitter, several users shared the video with the same caption attacking Kejriwal for allowing such a gathering and asking him to understand his responsibilities.

This video is not from Daryaganj and no such lockdown violation took place in Delhi.
The original video is from a market area in Limbayat, Surat in Gujarat. Several people had gathered near the Madina Masjid on 26 April. News reports claim that the people were shopping.
Surat MLA Harsh Sanghavi had responded to one Twitter user’s complaint, saying that the Limbayat police had already registered a case.
