"I am honoured to be a part of this initiative by YouTube to get us all together to enable the PM CARES fund. These are difficult times, but I hope we come out stronger and more empowered from this situation," says Badshah.

Satya Raghavan, Director, YouTube content partnership, India, reflecting on the initiative, says, "I think the resilience displayed by India in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic has been exceptional. As with YouTube, we feel fortunate to have played our part in keeping citizens updated and involved throughout this period. 'One Nation' by YouTube is our way of capturing this spirit, with a line-up of the best in entertainment, and we're hoping that this inspires audiences across India to come forward and donate for the cause."

Data from the health ministry showed India has 23,651 (as on April 30) active cases of COVID 19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus. On March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set up a special fund to battle COVID-19 through crowdfunding and requested citizens to donate to the PM-CARES Trust, which in the future would also provide for related distressing circumstances.

Online live-streaming, has been a growing trend for fundraisers during this particular lockdown which has helped many organisers to raise funds for COVID 19 relief.
