VADODARA: Stones were pelted on policemen late on Thursday evening during a drive to seal the containment areas in Godhra in wake of Covid-19 cases there. The police lobbed teargas shells in wake of the situation.
Godhra has been witnessing a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases. So far 38 have tested positive in the town. In wake of the situation, it was also decided that the lockdown would be made stricter in the town despite latest guidelines allowing the town to relax it.
It was decided on Tuesday that the election wards number three, six and nine of Godhra town would be declared as containment zones. All movement except that for medical emergencies has been banned in the area.
In wake of the decision, the process of sealing entry and exits of the containment zones with tin sheets had been started. Residents of the Gohya Mohalla in the town objected to this drive and even pelted stones on the police that was present during the process of sealing the areas.
