Pathologist, banker test positive for Covid in Gzb

Ghaziabad: Three more people, including a pathologist, a bank employee and a pharmacist from Meerut, tested positive for Covid-19 in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. However, officials said only two cases will be added to the district’s list of positive patients, while Meerut has been notified about the third patient. With this, the number of positive cases in Ghaziabad has risen to 60.
While the pathologist is a resident of Delhi and runs a laboratory in Dilshad Garden, apart from giving his services to Sarvodaya Hospital in Kavi Nagar, the bank employee is a resident of a highrise society in Mohan Nagar and works in Loni. Both the patients have been admitted to ESI Hospital in Rajendra Nagar (Sahibabad). The bank employee’s four family members and 15 colleagues have been quarantined at Santosh Hospital.
Neeraj Garg, medical superintendent of the hospital, said, “The pathologist has given his sample in Ghaziabad on Friday after he developed some symptoms. He had subsequently gone to his home in Delhi. He was not in contact with any other person in the hospital, except for eight laboratory staff whose list has been shared with the health department. The staff have also been asked to remain in home quarantine.”
On the other hand, the pharmacist from Meerut works at the railway hospital in Kotwali area. His sample was taken after his colleague, a resident of Kaila Bhatta in Ghaziabad, was found positive on April 22. Health officials said after giving his sample, the pharmacist had gone back to his home in Meerut. “The health department of Meerut has been informed about him. They will do his contact tracing there,” said a health official.
Meanwhile, a head constable with Delhi Police from Loni was also found to be positive on Monday. He had given his sample at RML Hospital on April 24 and is currently admitted to an isolation ward in Delhi itself. After receiving information, Ghaziabad health department sealed his house and conducted a disinfection drive in the area.
