NEW DELHI: In a significant judgment, SC rules that National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will apply to private unaided minority professional colleges for admission of students to MBBS, MD, BDS and MDS courses

SC said NEET is meant to ensure that standard of education is maintained and does not fall low under te guise of an exclusive right of management to the extent of maladministration.

SC said the regulatory measure in the form of NEET "is to bring the education within the realm of charity which character it has lost"

SC said as NEET intends to weed out evils from the system and various malpractices decaying the system, it cannot be said that NEET interfered with right to administer educational institutions by religious and linguistic minority groups
