Shimla: One killed, two injured, seven houses gutted in major fire

This is the third fire incident reported in the area in last three days.
SHIMLA: One person was charred to death, two others were injured, while seven houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Shishtwari village under Gram Panchayat Pekha in Chirgaon tehsil of Rohru sub division of Shimla district on Wednesday wee hours. This is the third fire incident reported in the area in last three days.
On receiving the information, a police team headed by SHO Chirgaon rushed to the spot, while fire tenders from Rohru were sent to douse the flames.
The deceased has been identified as Vikas Dhontu (38). He was alone in the house at the time of incudent, while his parents were residing at Rohru. Those injured are Sukh Chain (80) and Surender (49). The cause of fire is yet to be known.
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the incident and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief, ration and other essential articles to the affected families. He said that a fire tender would be placed at Chirgaon, so that it could reach to affected sites at the earliest and mitigate the losses.
Deputy commissioner Amit Kashyap, who visited the spot, said that fire occurred around 4am. He said that the injured were shifted to hospital at Rohru for treatment and they were out of danger. In all, seven houses were gutted affecting 11 families, he said.
District administration has provided immediate relief besides ration and other relief material to the affected families. DC appealed to the people to take all precautions while going to sleep at night and ensure heaters and gas are switched off. He requested people to get electric wiring of their houses changed if it is worn out.
