PATIALA: Two pilgrims in Patiala and one in Sangrur district were tested positive for coronavirus infection after they returned from Hazur Sahib on Wednesday. The district officials claimed that more pilgrims were expected to reach the state and all of them will have to undergo Covid-19 test.
In Patiala, so far, 30 people have been evacuated from Jaisalmer while four others have returned from Hazur Sahib. The officials revealed that all four pilgrims returned in their private car on Monday and two of them tested positive for the infection. Around 80 more pilgrims are expected to reach the district by late night.
"A 26-year-old man and his 50-year-old mother of Patiala city have been tested positive. Their tests were done on Monday but reports were not correct on Tuesday following which we conducted the tests again and they were tested positive. The patients have been sent to an isolated ward at Government Rajindra Hospital while their family members have been quarantined," Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said.
Around 81 people from Jaisalmer have reached Sangrur district and all of them have been quarantined in the government centres in four sub-divisions. Officials said that all these people are said to be labourers who were stranded in Rajasthan due to the nationwide lockdown.
The officials claimed that a total of 109 pilgrims have reached the district so far and are quarantined including 40 at Mastuana Sahib centre, 30 pilgrims quarantined at Nankiana Sahib centre and 39 quarantined in Sunam of Sangrur district.
The district administration in Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala had announced that there is no relaxation in curfew till April 30 and the decision will be taken tomorrow in this regard.
Sangrur deputy commissioner said that no relaxation is being given because as per the letter of additional chief secretary(Home). We have asked to open the shops in a staggered fashion. So the roster is being finalised which would be issued tomorrow for implementation in a staggered manner from day after, the DC said.
