Man killed by wife, her mother; both arrested

Ghaziabad: A 29-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday, along with her mother and her lover, for allegedly killing her husband in Kotwali area the previous night. Police said the woman Rashika’s husband was opposed to his mother-in-law’s illicit relationship with one Devendra, who works at the technical department of the Indian Railways.
The deceased, Surjeet, also worked in the Indian Railways and was a native of Jammu. The alleged murder came to light when police found Surjeet’s body dumped inside an empty quarter in the railway colony, just 300 metres from Surjeet’s house. SP (city) Manish Kumar Mishra told TOI that after completing dinner, Surjeet’s mother-in-law called him around 8pm and asked him to meet near her house.
“When the deceased went to the spot, he found his mother-in-law waiting for him along with Devendra. Soon after, his wife came from behind and stabbed him in the back with a knife and then hit on his head. Thereafter, Rama and Devendra strangled him,” he said.
Police said Rashika supported her mother’s relationship with Devendra and so wanted to eliminate Surjeet.
“The couple used to frequently fight over this issue. They fought on Monday too before Surjeet was killed,” said Vishnu Kaushik, the SHO of Kotwali police station. Later, in the day all three were arrested and were booked under IPC sections 320 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of the offence, or giving false information to screen offender).
Meanwhile, an alcoholic man allegedly stabbed his wife with a knife and a glass piece after an argument broke out between them in Davar colony in Loni. The woman, Rubi, is survived by her two children. They married five years ago.
SP (rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said, “The accused, Azim, returned from a rehabilitation centre in January. He has been arrested. The reason behind the murder is not clear yet,” he added.
