Parents of thirteen stranded students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Delhi on account of COVID-19 lockdown met North Goa MP Shripad Naik at his residence and sought help through state government for safe evacuation of their wards.

After the school administration expressed its inability to help, the parents decided to meet North Goa MP Shripad Naik and briefed him about the plight of the stranded students.

It may be recalled that these class IX students were under the national integration programme in New Delhi and due to lockdown they are stranded. The parents of these 13 students have become more concerned over the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths reported there.

JNV PTA chairman Rajendra Gawas while speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ said “JNV samiti should have sent these students back to their respective states or base. It is almost a month now that these children are stranded and in this matter we presented a memorandum to the MP Naik.”

Gawas further informed this daily that MP Naik was not happy with casual attitude of the JNV. “After hearing our matter, Naik said that he is unhappy over the attitude of JNV principal,” said Gawas who further said that Naik has assured parents that he will have a talk with the concerned minister over safe transport of students and ensure parents’ safe return of their children within three days.
