TAUNTON — A Massachusetts State Police trooper is back on the job after he was dragged by a pickup truck during a traffic stop.

Officials said the incident happened at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday in the area the Mobil gas station on Route 140 in Taunton, which is near the Route 24 interchange.

The trooper was on foot at the side of the vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Ram with a New York registration, and in the process of taking enforcement action when he was dragged a short distance by the truck.

The suspect, identified as a 32-year-old Dorchester man, fled the scene of the traffic stop, according to state police.

The trooper, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries and continued to work his shift.

State police are searching for the suspect involved in the incident, and the trooper who was dragged is assisting other units in the search.

The nature of potential charges was not made available by state police officials Tuesday night.
