The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has asked people to take precaution, as the day temperatures are expected to rise four degrees above the normal in the second week of May.

According to the weather department, the weather condition is not categorised as a heat wave.

The IMD’s extended range forecast, which covers up to third week of the next month (May 2020) shows that the maximum temperatures in the second week of May could be 3-4 degrees higher than normal.

Even though it may not necessarily meet the meteorological criteria for declaring a ‘heat wave’, the weather department has advised the public to take precautions and be cautious.

Also, the temperature, together with the humidity condition, may affect the comfort level.
