NEW DELHI: A day after the North Delhi Municipal Corporation temporarily shut down its Hindu Rao Hospital after one of its nurses tested positive, it resumed the hospital’s emergency services on Monday. The hospital was opened after the premises was fully sanitised and the contact-tracing was carried out.
All 52 health workers, who were found to be in contact with the nurse, were tested and advised self-quarantine. The results were awaited.
Varsha Joshi, the north corporation commissioner, said: “We resumed services of casualty and emergency wards, including the flu clinic and the three OPDs (gynae, paediatrics, medicine), with restricted entry of patients and attendants. Admitted patients were looked after throughout. Now, the hospital is functional.”
On Monday, 21 patients attended the OPD and 12 people were admitted to the emergency wards.
“To ensure safety of visitors and staff coming to the hospital, all precautionary measures are being taken. The administration has also installed a sanitising tunnel at the entrance,” a senior civic body official said.
Meanwhile, at least 11 senior doctors, including three from Hindu Rao Hospital, have been transferred. The deputy health officer at the north corporation, Arun Yadav, is now the head of the orthopaedics department at Hindu Rao Hospital. The order was issued for making health services better, added Joshi.
