Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will organise a live session on the leadership lessons from Ramayana at the university as the world battles the novel coronavirus.
In a tweet on Tuesday, JNU Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said the online session will be held on May May 2-3 from 4pm till 6 pm. The session will be beamed live on video sharing platform Zoom.
It is being organised jointly by the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies and School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies.
In his tweet, Kumar quoted Mahatma Gandhi to exalt the qualities of Ram. He said, "About Rama, in 1946, Mahatma Gandhi said: He is one without a second. He alone is great. There is none greater than He. He is timeless, formless, stainless. Such is my Rama. He alone is my Lord and Master."
"JNU organizes leadership lessons from Ramayana. All from JNU are welcome," he added.
In a video tweeted by a journalist and retweeted by Kumar, he further said, "Why a webinar on the leadership lessons from Ramayana at JNU? Mahatma Gandhi himself said there no one greater than Rama. Rama is formless and timeless. Mahatma Gandhi emphasised how Rama taught us to uphold truth, justice, equality and equanimity even under adverse circumstances. There is a great deal to learn from Ramayana and enrich our lives, particularly during these challenging times of coronavirus."
This comes as Ramanand Sagar's TV adaptation of epic 'Ramayan' was re-telecast on Doordarshan from March. The show was hugely popular back in the late 80s and early 90s when every household in the country would be glued to their TV sets during the telecast.
