The country is engaged in following Lockdown 2.0 to fight the Coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today communicate with the Chief Ministers of all the states through video conferencing to prepare a strategy to fight this virus before the lockdown ending on May 3.

It is believed that apart from the migrant laborers, there may be a discussion in this video conference to end the lockdown in a phased manner. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak with the Chief Ministers of states for the third time amid Coronavirus.

Central and state governments are giving discounts in many areas to promote economic activities and provide relief to the people. However, given the spread of Corona, many states are in favor of extending the lockdown even after 3 May.

Prime Minister Modi said in the 'Mann Ki Baat' radio address on Sunday that the country is in a war. He emphasized that people need to be careful and take precautions. The central government has now given permission to open neighborhood shops including residential complexes in urban areas during the lockdown. However, the shops located in the markets will remain closed until May 3.

In the previous communique on April 11, several chief ministers recommended extending the 21-day lockdown to two weeks, which was earlier scheduled to end on April 14. The Prime Minister announced on 14 April that the lockdown was being extended till May 3. Prior to the announcement of the lockdown on 24 March, the Prime Minister held talks with the Chief Ministers on 20 March. During that time Modi discussed ways to stop the spread of coronavirus.
