Ludhiana: Amid the hustle and bustle of Covid-19, the plastic surgeons from Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) had “fixed” the hand of a 22-year-old man back.
The man from VPO Kotkapura in Faridkot, who was working on a wood cutting machine, lost his hand when the machine cut it in two halves on April 19. He had lost significant amount of blood post the accident and was refused for surgery by many other hospitals due to the severe crush injury as well as corona rush. He was finally admitted in the CMCH.
Dr A Jayanthi Mala, who conducted the challenging operation along with her team of surgeons consisting of Dr Jedidiah Solomon, Dr Ankur Bhatia, Dr Rahul Jain and Dr Eldo George, said the surgery lasted eight hours. “It has been 48 hours since the surgery and the patient is stable and blood supply to the hand is good,” she added.
