Watch A Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Get Its First Wash In 37 Years

If you thought your car was dirty after being left out in the rain for a week or two, think again. This Mercedes-Benz 280 SL is the real definition of dirty.

This German classic is the latest vehicle to be detailed by none other than Larry Kosilla and AMMO NYC, one of the industry’s best-known detailers. We’ve shared a number of Kosilla’s videos in the past as it is always fascinating to see how experts restore the exterior and interiors of neglected cars and this clip is no different.

The Mercedes-Benz in question served as the daily driver for its owner for no less than a decade but it was retired to a small garage in 1982 where it has been stored ever since. As you can imagine, storing a car in a dirty and tight garage for 37 years without touching it isn’t a particularly good idea and when Kosilla and his team pulled it out, they were in for quite a treat.

Having spent almost four decades locked away, the Mercedes was covered in a thick layer of dust. What’s worse is the fact that there was a lot of mold across the exterior and a family of rats decided to build a home inside, meaning it was covered in rat droppings.

After thoroughly washing the exterior while also cleaning up the inside, the AMMO NYC team set about polishing the red paint and returning it to its former glory.

Making this detail particularly special is the fact that it was done without the knowledge of the owner who returned home to see his beautifully clean and detailed car. Soon, it will be restored fully.
