Patiala records first death due to coronavirus

PATIALA: A 62-year-old corona positive woman from Rajpura passed away at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala around 12.15pm on Monday. It is the first case of coronavirus death in the district.
The woman was admitted to the Government Rajindra Hospital on April 16 with comorbidity. She was diabetic, hypertensive and also had some respiratory ailment at the time of being admitted to the hospital.
Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said she had been admitted in the isolation ward in a critical condition and had to be put on ventilator as her condition remained critical throughout the treatment. She also underwent dialysis and despite all-out efforts made by the doctors, she could not survive.
The civil surgeon said all other corona positive patients admitted in isolation wards at the Government Rajendra Hospital were out of danger and recuperating well.
Her last rites were performed by the district authorities and the funeral was attended by the representatives of Patiala administration.
