Covid-19 in India: Maharashtra tally crosses 8,000-mark

NEW DELHI: The number of Covid-19 cases in the country has surged to 27,892, according to the latest update by health ministry. Of this, a whopping 20,835 cases are still active, while 6,185 people have been cured. The death tally has risen to 872. Maharashtra remain the worst-affected state with a total of 8,068 cases, followed by Gujarat and Delhi.
Meanwhile, a Pune-based company has said that it plans to start production of Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University in few weeks, and will bring the vaccine to market by September-October if clinical trials are successful.
