LUCKNOW: Bollywood singer
Kanika Kapoor was served a notice by the Sarojininagar police on Monday to be present at the police station on April 30.
The police had sent her a notice following an FIR registered against her by the Lucknow chief medical officer for not informing health authorities and district administration about her travel history.
Assistant commissioner of police,
Krishnanangar, Deepak Kumar Singh told TOI that a police sub-inspector Jag Prasad visited the singer’s apartment and served her a notice. Singh also said that Prasad has been the investigation officer of the case.
When TOI contacted Prasad, he said that “Kapoor was co-operative and ready to appear on April 30 at Sarojininagar police station”.
Prasad also said that Kapoor would be questioned whether she was aware of the
coronavirus, what precautions she had taken about the same and why had she attended public functions even though she had fever and cold.
Earlier, Kapoor had reached Lucknow from Mumbai on March 11, and participated in various functions in the city. She also went to Kanpur to meet her maternal grandmother. Later, on March 20 she was tested positive for the virus.
As a result, more than 500 persons who had come in contact with the pop-singer were tested and quarantined. The list had also included
Uttar Pradesh health minister Jai Pratap Singh.
On the same day she was tested positive, the Lucknow police had lodged an FIR on the complaint of CMO Narendra Kumar Agarwal.
