‘Good Sunday’: At 12, Noida sees most discharges in a day

NOIDA/GREATER NOIDA: The Gautam Budh Nagar district saw its highest number of single-day discharges of Covid-19 patients on Sunday. As many as 12 patients were discharged from designated hospitals after recovery.
The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida led the way by discharging eight patients, including an 82-year-old woman and a three-year-old child. This was also the highest number of simultaneous discharges from the hospital in a day, taking the total number of discharged to 31 out of 35 positive cases. This amounted to a success rate of 89% for the hospital.
“It was a good Sunday,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate GB Nagar. Brigadier (retd) Dr RK Gupta, director (GIMS), said: “The 82-year-old lady and the 79-year-old man had hypertension and diabetes, respectively. But, they had good immunity and responded well to the treatment.” He added that patients were in the hospital since March.
Chief medical superintendent (CMS) Dr Shikha Seth, who led the caesarean delivery of the woman from Cherry County said that the elderly, children and already admitted patients were the most vulnerable.
While the DM gave gifts to the discharged patients, the hospital staff gave them a farewell. “We got good treatment at the hospital and all the doctors and staff were very helpful,” said the 79-year-old man.
Dr Gupta said, “We had started testing samples at the labs from April 1. Nearly 150 samples are being tested every day.”
Meanwhile, four patients were also discharged from the Super Speciality Paediatric Hospital and Post Graduate Teaching Institute (SSPHPGTI), also called as Child PGI, in Sector 30 on Sunday. These include three women from sectors 62, 22 and Palm Olympia society in Greater Noida (west) and a man from Grand Omaxe sector 93.
