Covid-19: Nuh tops Haryana table with maximum recoveries

In Nuh, 39 of 57 Covid-19 patients have been discharged so far
CHANDIGARH: Having dominated the charts with maximum coronavirus cases, now Nuh is also topping the table with maximum recoveries in Haryana.
A total of 39 out of 57 positive cases, all members of Tablighi Jamaat, have been discharged. Besides, no fresh case has been reported from the district during the last 10 days.
Nuh civil surgeon gives credit to the team of doctors, paramedics and allied staff for their contribution despite challenges. At the district level, 259 teams have been put in action for thermal scanning of inmates of over 2.5 lakh houses in 503 villages.
“The biggest challenge was of identification and classification of Tabalighis, who have returned before and after the lockdown was imposed. The other challenge was to find out affected patients, their contacts and their sampling. For this, we needed to have complete understanding about Jamaatis and their movement. We first tracked down those who had attended the Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi and were suspected of affection. Next, we traced all those who had entered Nuh via Delhi and then their contacts,” said Nuh civil surgeon Dr Virender Yadav.
However, before reaching the patients, the teams involved in this exercise faced lots of challenges. “Our field workers, especially Asha workers and paramedics, were abused and attacked by villagers. Instead of retaliating, we counselled our employees and pursued locals through muftis and maulvis. Some villagers even threatened me and my team. But we just went on to do what had to be done,” said Yadav. “For this, full credit for fool proof planning by local SP and his team along with the civil surgeon and deputy commissioner,” he added.
Yadav also had a special word of praise for two ENT specialists, Dr Richi Sood and Dr Saurabh Yadav, and an anaesthetist of Nuh hospital, who took samples from 270 persons in first three days. “Soon results started coming in and we were in control. Then our teams at medical college counselling and now we have good results.”
