GHAZIABAD/NOIDA: Four people, including a cancer patient, tested positive for Covid-19 in Ghaziabad on Sunday. In Noida, two children and a 32-year-old tested positive. The district now has 115 cases.
The cancer patient, a woman from Loni whose husband had tested positive earlier, had been undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in Delhi and was scheduled to have a surgery in a few days. After she tested positive , she was moved to the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, a Level 3 Covid hospital. The three others in Ghaziabad are all residents of Kaila Bhatta-Islam Nagar, where a woman had tested positive on April 16, two days after giving birth.
A doctor couple from a group housing society in Vasundhara Sector 3 has also tested positive. “We have started cluster containment in the area. They will, however, not be added to Ghaziabad’s count until we get information from the Delhi government,” Ghaziabad CMO NK Gupta said.
In Noida, the two children who tested positive were secondary contacts of those who had tested positive earlier. “We have three new Covid-19 cases. A nine-year-old is a secondary contact of two people from Acchar Village in Greater Noida who had tested positive earlier. A 10-year-old who tested positive on Sunday is from JJ Colony, also a secondary contact of a patient from the area. The third patient, a 32-year-old man, is from Tilapta village in Greater Noida’s Surajpur area. We are still tracing his contacts,” said Noida chief medical officer Deepak Ohri. All three have been admitted to Sharda Hospital.
With 12 patients being discharged — eight from GIMS and four from Child PGI — Noida now has 44 active cases. “One of them was an 82-year-old woman who was a high-risk patient,” said district magistrate Suhas LY. The recovery rate is now 64.54%.
