A dad secretly converted his shed into a pub to help his daughter fulfil a long-held pledge.
Will Davies said that since the age of 14 his daughter, Eleanor, was looking forward to her 18th birthday party so that she could buy her dad a pint at her local pub for the first time.
All that seemed to be lost because of the Covid-19 lockdown. It seemed to Eleanor that she was all set to enjoy a quiet birthday with her parents, and her 15-year-old brother Evan.
But her dad, who works as a drone operator for films and TV, had other plans.
"Eleanor has been going on about her 18th birthday since she was 14 saying, saying she was looking forward to taking me to the pub for her first legal pint," explained Will.

"Obviously because of the lockdown we couldn't do that, but I thought it was a little bit sad for her just to open a couple of presents and perhaps watch some telly with her parents on her 18th."
Will ended up clearing his shed and making it into a rustic bar, complete with an impressive stock of drinks and snacks, and fairylights. He even found an old pub sign that he had bought years ago but had never found an use for it, and placed it outside the makeshift pub.
"Eleanor had no idea what I was up to, she did mention at one stage of coming to see me, but I put her off saying the shed was in a mess as I was clearing it up," said Will.
"Luckily she didn't think too much about it as I'm always doing DIY stuff in there."

From cradle to grave, the National Health Service, and the incredible professionals within it who care for us, is a part of British life.
Today, more than ever, we should cherish those who dedicate themselves to our care, heedless of their own health as they work tirelessly to care for people in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
Nurses and others - employed by the NHS and any other part of health and care - we have never needed them more.

Will added: "We said we were going to go for a drive, Eleanor was saying, 'but we can't, we're on lockdown!'

"I said 'I really feel like going to the pub!' Anyhow, she thought I was going mad but went along with it.
"Anyway she squealed when she saw it, and loved it. We had a couple of drinks each, played some cards, and 'came home' around 10pm and we didn't even need a taxi or anything."
