The pictured Ford Mustang, which started out life as a regular 1965 model, has been so comprehensively modified that it’s now said to be worth $1 million. It’s also likely one of the fastest road-legal Mustangs anywhere in the world.

The car is currently under the care of Shawn Davis from Autotopia, a high-end car storage facility in Los Angeles. The project started off using a cheap donor car and stripping it down to its shell with the modifications then commencing.

Those building the car left no stone unturned. With the exception of the shell, everything else is new. This includes a custom, hand-fabricated metal body as well as all of the suspension and braking components. It’s claimed that more than 10,000 man-hours went into creating what’s now lovingly dubbed ‘Vicious Mustang.’

It’s not just the bodywork that is special. Found beneath the custom hood is a heavily-modified V8 engine featuring forged internals as well as a massive supercharger and twin-turbos. The car is currently running at 1,003 hp at the rear wheels but can be tuned to produce over 1,200 hp.

Mated to the unique powertrain is a sequential six-speed transmission similar to what you’ll find in a GT3 race car. This transmission allows for blisteringly quick shifts while still being more involving to operate that some of the dual-clutch systems you’ll find in new performance cars.

Then there’s the interior. The owner is clearly not afraid of making a statement so virtually every single square inch of the cabin is finished with red materials.
