Titled as the ‘Clean and Safe’ stamp, it requires the implementation of an internal protocol for companies that ensure necessary hygiene measures to avoid risks of contagion and guarantee safe procedures for operation of tourist activities. These companies should abide by the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS). The validation is free and optional. It is also available for one year.

The “Clean & Safe” stamp can be obtained online through the digital platforms of Portugal tourism and will always be associated with the entity’s registration number. After the submission of the Declaration of Commitment by the companies, they are entitled to publicise the “Clean & Safe” stamp, either physically on their premises or in their digital platforms. In coordination with the competent entities, Turismo de Portugal will carry out random audits to adhering establishments.

With the introduction of this measure, the national tourist authority aims to inform companies on the minimum hygiene requirements and cleaning measures to ensure the safety of various establishments. The authority also intends to promote Portugal as a safe destination with necessary measures required for preventing the spread of the virus with the help of a coordinated action plan from the sector. The sector is also expected to expand to other areas of activity across numerous expressions of interest soon.
