A lockdown has been declared in the country till May 3 due to the coronavirus epidemic. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted to open registered shops in all states and union territories of the country on Friday with certain conditions.
Under the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, these shops can be opened only in non-hotspot areas from today. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted to open these shops with some conditions. Under this, keeping because of social distancing, only 50 percent of the staff will be able to work in these shops. Shopping malls and shopping complexes will not open yet.
Shops registered under the Shops and Establishment Act under the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs can be opened from today. Also, shops and stand-alone shops (outside shopping complexes) close to residential colonies within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities can be opened.
Only 50 percent of the employees will be able to work in the registered market shops located outside the municipal corporations and municipalities. Besides, salons and beauty parlors have also been allowed to open in non-hotspot areas. All types of shops in rural areas are allowed to open. The Ministry has also imposed certain conditions regarding the opening of all these shops.
