Best Instagrams this week: Karisma Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

How many weeks has it been now since we stepped outside? For most, the answer would be four, maybe five. And as the lockdown continues, it's safe to say that Instagram is slowly but surely becoming everyone's go-to source of daily entertainment. While some are loading up their feeds with workout videos, others have been keeping followers posted about their kitchen creations, and the number of stars taking on viral challenges has reached an all time high. So what did you miss this week? Let's get you up to speed. 

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who joined Instagram about two months ago, seems to have adapted to it well, sharing fun snippets from her quarantine life on a regular basis on the social media app. Most recently, the Bollywood star posted a series of photos online, showing the world how her son Taimur Ali Khan and husband Saif Ali Khan were spending time at home. In case you missed it, little Taimur, with some assistance from his dad, spent this week giving his terrace garden a mini makeover by painting on its walls. What made Kapoor Khan's post more entertaining was her witty caption: “If there is a wall that’s blocking your creativity... Try painting on it.” Another star who's been enjoying family time is Katrina Kaif, who shared this picture of herself hanging out at home with younger sister Isabelle Kaif.

Meanwhile, throwbacks continued to be a favourite trend on Instagram. While Mira Rajput Kapoor treated husband Shahid Kapoor's fans to a rarely seen poster from his teenage years, Kiara Advani dug up an old video of herself showing off her dance skills in a ballerina dress. But it wasn't ballet she was performing in her tutu. Turn up the volume and you'll hear the star's mom saying, "You’re doing Bharat Natyam in a ballerina dress… You have to dance like a ballet dancer." 

April 22, 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and many Bollywood stars took to their Instagram pages to mark the milestone with thoughtful posts this week. Alia Bhatt, for one, began the day by reading out a poem about our planet that she'd written herself. Over the course of the day, Sara Ali Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Dia Mirza, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Alaya F and Tamannaah Bhatia too, along with many other names, spoke about #EarthDay on their Instagram pages. 

This week also brought a few noteworthy birthdays with it. For her mother Babita Kapoor's big day, Karisma Kapoor shared a cheery old photo from a holiday in London saying, "Happy birthday mom. we are missing spending ur birthday with you." Across the globe, the royal family celebrated not one, but two birthdays. After Queen Elizabeth II's birthday on April 21, the family also marked Prince Louis's second birthday on April 23 by releasing four adorable photographs of the toddler. Shot by the Duchess of Cambridge herself, the images show him having a blast with paints to create a rainbow handprint.
