Coronavirus lockdown: Pune collector to help migrants reach home

PUNE: District collector Naval Kishore Ram on Saturday said deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar had directed all the collectors to coordinate among themselves and shift out migrant workers stuck in various districts in the state because of the Covid-19 lockdown.
“If the workers are from within the state, collectors of the respective districts will be coordinate with each other and make the necessary arrangements. The process has already started,’’ Ram told TOI.
“We are already coordinating with various collectors. We shall make all the necessary arrangements to shift these workers in coordination with the collectors of the other districts,” he said.
Ram said the central government would take the decision about the migrant workers from other states stuck in Maharashtra following the lockdown.
