A guide to taming your untidy brows at home

Road Test
This week I try …tinting and shaping my brows at home
The lowdown I consult my brow guru, Amy Jean Linnehan, on how to tint and shape my brows myself. She sends out her customised home kit (amyjean-collection.com, $115), which includes brow dye, her signature double-ended tweezers, brow brush, clear brow gel, Vaseline, cotton buds, wipes and crystal-clear instructions:

1) I pull the hair off my face.
2) Cleanse brows and blot with a tissue.
3) Put Vaseline around my brows with a cotton tip.
4) Squeeze tint into the mixing tray, add activator liquid and mix.

5) Using the brow brush, apply tint to the arch and tail and finally apply to the beginning of the brow.
6) Trace around my brows twice with a damp cotton tip.
7) Tint is removed with wipes. To shape, I fill in my desired shape with powder, then tweeze stray hairs around the drawn-on brows.
Pain factor I tweeze after a shower as the steam opens my follicles, making hair removal less painful.

Downtime Tinting: just a few minutes. Shaping: 15 minutes.
Results My brows look more defined and frame my face better.
Trend: Hand Creams
Lots of washing can leave hands feeling dry. These lush creams soften, nourish and hydrate with no sticky after-effect – and smell good, too. Take the time to give hands a good massage and work the cream right up to your elbows.

ColorWow Color Security Shampoo (adorebeauty.com.au, $49) is a must-have. It’s made without ingredients that can leave a film on your hair – things such as sulfates, mineral oils and parabens – leaving dyed hair shiny and manageable. It is great for hair extensions, too.
Ask Stephanie
How can I curl my hair quickly?
Blow-dry hair straight, pull it into a high ponytail, then split it into four sections. Roll each section around your curling wand – we love GHD’s Curve 2.0 Classic Wave Wand (adorebeauty.com.au, $240) – then set it with Eleven I Want Body Texture Spray (adorebeauty.com.au, $25). Allow hair to cool and then shake it out.
