Now that the whole country has gone into lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, we’re all stuck at home with not much to do. This is just the right time to pamper your skin and hair at home with home remedies and DIY masks. The immense pollution and change in the weather and all the dirt and filth that our skin comes in contact with does a lot of damage to our skin and hair and it’s important that we take time and pamper ourselves and help it heal. So here’s sharing some useful and easy quarantine home remedies for self care:
- Regularly wash your face:
Even though you may not be exposed to the outdoor elements as much as usual, or are wearing makeup less frequently it’s still important to wash your face daily. In addition you should exfoliate up to three times per week to ensure you are not letting oil, debris, bacteria, and dead skin build up, which can lead to break outs. Don’t go to bed without washing your face just because you’ve been in pajamas all day.
- Try DIY treatments:
For an anti-aging DIY face mask, combination of yogurt and honey gently slough off old skin and leave your skin glowing, soft, and hydrated. Mix two tablespoons of plain yogurt with one tablespoon of raw honey in a small bowl. Apply to the face and let the mask dry for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. You can also try the simple body mask with gram flour, turmeric and milk; combine all these ingredients into thick paste apply all over your body for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off. It will leave your skin soft and supple.
- You still need to wear sunscreen:
Every day, regardless if you are going out or not. It’s not a good decision not to wear sunscreen. Everybody should be trying to get natural light every day. Even if you sit near a window or in your balcony UVs can come through that so wearing a SPF is important in natural light also.
- Moisturize Moisturize!
You are in quarantine so the biggest way you can help your skin right now is by moisturizing, especially when we’re all washing our hands every hour. To replenish your skin, you can keep using your regular skin lotion, or use some at home staples like olive or coconut oil, or honey, as it contains hydrating naturally occurring antimicrobial properties to eep your skin soft.
- Don’t forget your lips
Lip care is always neglected when it comes to skincare. Use this time at home to make your lips ultra-smooth by exfoliating it regularly to remove any dead skin cells. Use any mild scrub or simply make your own lip scrub at home with some rock sugar. Use lip balm regularly and massage your lips often by petroleum jelly or raw milk or even ghee.
- Don’t neglect hairs too
Take one egg in a bowl and add 4 spoons of olive oil and 2 spoons of castor oil. Mix 4 to 5 spoons of honey and make a smooth paste. Apply this paste all over your hair and scalp and let it dry. Rinse and shampoo with cold water and use a conditioner as well.
- Rejuvenation naturally:
To help rejuvenate your skin and hair naturally, get adequate sleep and drink more water. Additionally, it’s beneficial to eat fruits and veggies rich in vitamin C and D and antioxidants, including oranges kiwi broccoli, cauliflower mushrooms, blueberries, cheese egg yolks, spinach etc.
