The migrants tried to avoid a checkpost
KALYAN: Police rescued four migrant labourers, stuck in a 1,600-foot deep valley at Kasara ghat after an eight-hour operation on Friday morning.
Narendra Chaudhari, Bhupal Nisar, Rajesh Kaul and Fulvant Ravat had started walking from Bhiwandi to their native place in UP. On seeing a police checkpost, they went down the valley. Police said they were walking as they did not have money for transport. When they reached Kasara ghat, to avoid being get caught by police at a checkpost at the Thane-Nashik border, they ventured into the valley to cross over.
Kasara police inspector Dattu Bhoye said, “Around 10pm, a labourer dialled 100, informing police that they were lost.” He added that they then formed a team of policemen and villagers to search for them. Police said as it was dark, they guided the labourers over phone, telling them to send their Google location.
Police said they then used their phone torch lights to reached the spot. Igatpuri police have quarantined them for 14 days at a community hall.
