Mindset of UDF and BJP graver than Covid-19: Kanam Rajendran

Kanam Rajendran
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition UDF and BJP are led by the narrow mindedness that focuses only on creating nuisance for the government, alleged CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran. “Such a mindset is graver than the Covid disease and Kerala will realise their true colours,” Rajendran wrote in CPI mouthpiece Janayugom daily on Friday.
The article of Rajendran, published two days after his meeting with CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to discuss Sprinklr data transfer row, strongly criticises UDF and BJP for triggering unwanted controversies when the state is dealing with the pandemic. Interestingly, the long article didn’t mention the Sprinklr deal though controversy about relief fund collection through CMDRF levelled by K M Shaji, MLA was mentioned.
“Everybody knows what prompts UDF and BJP to take such a stance at the time of pandemic. When the Left government is doing a good job in tackling the crisis and the people are realising that the opposition is not cooperating with the crisis mitigation work, their only option is to take a stand against the government. We can only hope that opposition doesn’t stage such farces at least during the pandemic,” Rajendran said.
According to him, the opposition which found fault with the utilisation of CMDRF, didn’t utter anything about the Centre neglecting many of the state’s demands that would have been helpful to handle the crisis. “When an MLA levelled baseless allegations against CMDRF collection, other senior leaders didn’t try to correct him,” he said.
Lauding the efforts of the state government from the day of reporting the first case, Kanam Rajendran said health is a basic right of citizens and governments must devise plans to protect the health standard of the society.
“It is a matter of relief that when the mortality rate of the country due to Covid-19 remains at 2.8%, that of Kerala is only 0.58. This is an impressive rate compared to global standards. The strength of the policies Kerala has been implementing for decades and the will power of the LDF government in power are reasons of this achievement. When the state government announced a relief package of Rs 20,000 crore for helping people stranded in lockdown, everybody welcomed that wholeheartedly,” reminded Rajendran.
