Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple priest's mother dies of Covid-19

MADURAI: The mother of a priest at the Meenakshi Amman Temple died of Covid-19 on Friday morning.
The 70-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment in Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
The woman was suffering from breathing difficulties before being admitted to a private hospital in the city. Later, after she developed fever, she was admitted to GRH.
Her two sons, one of whom is a priest at Meenakshi Temple, and other family contacts have given their swab samples for Covid-19 testing.
Around 54 police personnel, 40 priests and 50 staff members of the temple were screened on Thursday. The temple was also disinfected by Madurai Corporation workers.
The woman's source of infection was unknown. She was mostly staying at home.
