NEW DELHI: Delhi government’s Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on Thursday asked its staff on Covid-19 duty to refrain from highlighting their problems on social media as it could be “embarrassing” for the government.
In his April 21 order, hospital’s medical director Dr Sunil Kumar suggested the hospital staff to contact the roster-duty controlling officer of their cadre for redressal of their problem instead of talking to media or making it public on social media platforms.
The medical director in the order said the staff on Covid-19 work should be reminded that they were on “national duty”, and some difficulties were “inevitable”, which “should not be highlighted on various social media as the same may be very embarrassing for the government.”
“They (the staff) shall be further advised to refrain from talking to media or use social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter to make their complaints public without first bringing it to the knowledge of the concerned duty-roster controlling officer, as the same is against the CCS (CCA) Conduct Rules, 1965,” the order stated.
The order came a day after the AAP-led government on Monday asked the hospitals to form media cells to tackle messages on social media regarding the functioning of government hospitals.
