16-year-old ends life over harassment in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: A 16-year-old girl was found hanging in her house in Madiaon on Tuesday. The family of the girl has accused a teenage boy of harassing her and lodged an FIR of abetment to suicide against him in Madiaon on Thursday.
Rahul Mishra, the elder brother of the girl, said that his sister was studying in class XI and the boy, a resident of Naubasta in Madiaon, had been harassing her for months on her way to school from home.
After school was shut during the lockdown, the boy started harassing her over the phone. The family first warned the accused and then lodged a complaint against him at women power line 1090. However, he continued harassing her. On Tuesday, the girl committed suicide by hanging herself inside a small room on her terrace.
Madiaon SHO Vipin Singh said, “We are verifying the statements given by the family and scanning the call records and messages of the girl and the boy.”
