Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Six cops test positive for Covid-19 in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: Six police personnel, including three women, on Friday tested positive for Covid-19 in Coimbatore. All of them are attached to the Podanur police station.
The six police personnel have been admitted to hospital. They were on duty at Covid-19 containment areas.
Podanur police station will remain closed for two days to carry out disinfection work. The station will be functioning from a private marriage hall in the area.
The family members of the cops were quarantined immediately. The police canteen functioning at the city police commissionerate has been closed.
The test results of around 50 more cops are awaited.
“We decided to conduct real time PCR test for all our personnel who are deployed at the 10 Covid-19 containment areas in the city,” said Coimbatore commissioner of police Sumit Sharan.
