The India-US relationship is unlikely to be affected by the US President Donald Trump's executive order imposing a 60-day stay on immigration in his country. Indicating this, a Central Government source said on Thursday that at present, the potential impact of this order on India is being studied.

The source said, given that people-to-people contact is the 'cornerstone' of the strategic relationship between the two countries, we hope that this relationship will continue further.

Reacting to this order, the Indian government source said, "We have taken cognizance of the order." We are studying it. It excludes non-immigration visas such as H1B, which prove beneficial for the economies of both countries. However, on Thursday, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar also held telephonic talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, but it was not clear whether the Trump administration order was discussed between the two.

Let us tell you that Trump had signed an executive order on Wednesday, which temporarily banned foreigners from getting green cards and immigration. This step has been taken to protect the jobs of American citizens from the damage to the economy caused by the Coronavirus epidemic. However, this order will not affect those who are already residing in the US. However, it is not yet clear how many Indians will be affected by this order. Explain that in 2019, 5.77 lakh people were allowed legal migration to the US.
