Ludhiana: She has always been fond of music and had represented her college in youth festivals, several competitions and even released her first song ‘Channa Ve’ in 2018.
She is Madhu Bala, station house officer (SHO) at Sarabha Nagar police station. She is now making use of her talent and hobby of singing in creating awareness against coronavirus. Madhu Bala has given her voice for a song that has been composed by Punjabi singer Kamal Khan. Besides the SHO, several other prominent Punjabi celebrities have given their voice for the song.
The song ‘Jitange corona wali jung oye’ (We will win the battle against corona) has been released on Tuesday and has got 56,000 views on YouTube within a day.
The 28-year-old sub inspector said, “Since school time, I have been participating in singing competitions. In college too I have represented by institute in youth festivals while in May 2018, I also released a song. However, after that I I did not pursue my hobby.”
“Some of the officials in the police department knew that I am into singing. Besides performing duty on filed, the police personnel are also making efforts to create awareness about coronavirus.Hence, my senior officials asked me if I could do something in this regard. Four days ago, I called up Kamal Khan, who is a well known singer, and share my thoughts with him. The next day he sent me the lyrics and then many Punjabi singers and other celebrities joined the cause,” she added.
“I was on duty on Monday when I had to record my part of the song and for that I rushed to Ishmeet Music Academy. I am glad that I could be a part of this awareness song. I have remained away from singing for about two years as I wanted to be a part of something good that also goes with my profession also,” said Madhu Bala.
In the song, the artists have asked the people to remain indoors in corona times. The work of frontliners like police, who are standing out there for people, doctors working bravely, vendors and safai karamcharis, has also been appreciated in the song.
The SHO added, “Music is a good source of conveying any message to society. Every aspect has been covered in the song. People have been asked to not get scared of coronavirus, but to take precautions and remain indoors. I hope our effort will help in creating more awareness.”
