PATIALA: The day the Patiala police registered two separate cases against four corona positive persons for violating the curfew norms, Patiala senior deputy mayor Yogendra Yogi, who along with his son and other family members have been quarantined in their home till April 29 by the district health authority, went out to distribute ration bags carrying pictures of chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday.
Yogendra Yogi along with his son had on last Thursday been admitted to the Isolation ward of the government Rajendra Hospital after they showed Corona symptoms. The had undergone tests for coronavirus the results of which had come negative. However, as a precautionary measure, the district health authority had quarantined him along with his family members or 14 days.
On Thursday morning the senior deputy mayor got out of his Khalsa Mohalla residence and distributed more than 300 bags of ration among the needy person inside a school premises near his residence.
He even got his pictures clicked and later posted it in some of the WhatsApp groups. As these pictures reached some of the media persons they got in touch with him but he maintained that these were old pictures which were circulating.
Later it turned out that the senior deputy mayor had actually violated quarantine to distribute ration, jeopardizing the health of more than 300 people in Patiala.
While the deputy commissioner Kumar Amit was unaware of this development, he said that he would have the matter looked into and assured that appropriate action will be taken against anyone violating the curfew and quarantine norms.
Repeated calls made on Yogi's phone failed to generate any response from the senior deputy mayor, who went incommunicado by the evening.
The senior deputy mayor along with his son had been admitted to the isolation ward at the Government Rajendra Hospital last Thursday ward following the Covid-19 symptoms.
Even as their results came negative, the health department had asked them to stay in their home quarantined for 14 days and had even pasted notice outside their residence in Khalsa mohalla.
The deputy commissioner said that he would be taking up the matter with Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra.
