Amid prevalent chaos and uncertainty over access to the essential services and commodities during the lockdown, we bring you the latest updates from Hyderabad.
*As many as 54 members of Tablighi Jamaat, including women who were put under strict quarantine at Hyderabad Markaz at Mallepally, have been released by the health authorities. All the members have tested negative for coronavirus.
*Recognising the sanitation workers’ services during the lockdown, the RWAs in Secunderabad Cantonment, have come forward and are providing Covid-19 preventive material, such as surgical masks, sanitizers and PPE kits to over 1,100 sanitation workers.
* ANI update at 9.48am: A total of 5,00,542 samples from 4,85,172 individuals have been tested as on April 23, 2020, 9am. 21,797 samples have been confirmed positive, says Indian Council of Medical Research

*People of Narayanpet in Telangana are being screened with thermal imaging cameras to check if they have fever. A facial thermal scanner procured from Japan is also being used at a medical camp in Narayanpet mandal.
*The number of Covid-19 positive cases coming from districts has reduced drastically, but what is worrying health authorities is the increase in the number of cases from Old City in Hyderabad. Tests conducted for the contacts of positive cases in Nalgonda at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) proved negative.
*Telangana government has issued orders instructing organisations to issues passes only to employee and no one else, including senior citizens, pregnant women and people having underlying medical conditions. It was also instructed that exact dates and timings should be mentioned on the Covid-19 duty passes.
*Several hospitals across Hyderabad (private and state-run ) have recorded an increase in emergency cases over the last few days, say doctors. The reason they said was the postponement of treatment during the initial days of the lockdown.
*Telangana municipal, industries and IT minister K T Rama Rao says the state government is not for indiscriminate testing of people for novel coronavirus and that his government has been conducting tests of all primary and secondary contacts of people tested positive in containment zones.
