The residents of New Vaddem were agitated over inadequate supply of water for the past one week.

The agitated women from New Vaddem confronted the pump operators working at the water tank at New Vaddem during early morning on Thursday when they witnessed no drop of water in their taps. The pump operators on duty failed to give any satisfactory answers to the agitated people.

“We are facing water scarcity for the last one week. Due to the lockdown, it has been difficult for us to step out from our houses”, said Sandhya Volvoikar, a resident of Housing Board Colony.

She informed that the PWD should make provisions to supply water in New- Vaddem, preferably in the morning or late evening every day, so that people could be able to fetch water, without causing any inconvenience. “The release of water during late midnight, are giving people sleepless nights especially the working class” added another woman from Housing Board Colony.

People have appealed to the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and other officials of the PWD to make immediate arrangements to resolve the water woes, especially in New-Vaddem areas.

Meanwhile, when contacted the assistant engineer PWD (water section) Eknath Paste, disclosed that inadequate water supply in entire Mormugao taluka was witnessed only because of some technical problem at Selaulim water treatment plant. He maintained that the water supply will be regular from Friday onwards, without causing any major inconvenience to the general public.
