Everyone is doing their part in the fight against COVID-19 and in order to support the relief efforts, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers has come out with an innovative first responder ambulance and has already donated 60 units to the authorities.

These unique first-responder ambulances are essentially an add-on accessory that can be attached to any Hero MotoCorp motorcycle with an engine capacity of 150cc or higher. Built as a side car, these units offer a sleeping arrangement and are equipped with medical instruments, a first-aid kit, oxygen cylinder, fire extinguisher and a siren.

Thanks to their size, these first-responder ambulances can get into narrow lanes and move around town faster than regular ambulances thus allowing for medical professionals to get to distress locations easier. These units are also key in helping the fight against COVID-19 in remote and rural areas where an ambulance might not be available so easily.

Undoubtedly, this is innovation at its best and with 60 units already delivered, Hero MotoCorp has already contributed to helping patients get to the nearest hospitals.

Stepping up the fight

Apart from these unique first-responder ambulances, the Hero Group has committed INR 100 Crore as aid in relief efforts. Out of this sum, fifty per cent has been given to the PM Cares Relief Fund while the remaining half is being utilized by the company in other relief efforts. The company is also distributing 15,000 meals a day to daily wage workers stranded in districts near Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat every day. Last but not the least, the BML Munjal University that is run by the Hero Group in Dharuhera has offered its 2000 bed hostel for use as an isolation and treatment ward to the local health department.
