Ramayan, Mahabharat continue to rule, get massive viewership for Doordarshan third week in a row

DD National witnessed a huge surge in its viewership during the third week of Ramayan's re-telecast. 

Ramayan and Mahabharat are two of the most-watched shows, according to BARC India.

Ever since Ramayan and Mahabharat started its rerun on DD National and DD Bharati, their viewership has created history. With every passing week, DD National has witnessed a massive surge in its viewership.

According to data issued by BARC India, DD National garnered 2.68 billion impressions between April 11 to April 17, across India. Last week, the channel enjoyed 1.9 billion impressions. The top five channels across India were DD National, Dangal, Sony SAB, Big Magic and DD Bharati.

The top five Hindi GEC shows were DD National's Ramayan, DD Bharati's Mahabharat and Dangal's Baba Aiso Var Dhundo, Mahima Shanidev Ki and Bandini. While Ramayan got 67.4 million impressions, Mahabharat garnered 18.2 million impressions in the third week of its rerun.

Apart from Ramayan, DD National has also brought back other popular shows - Shaktimaan, The Jungle Book, Alif Laila, Byomkesh Bakshi, Chanakya and Buniyaad. The return of Mahabharat on DD Bharati has worked wonders for the channel, which has witnessed a significant increase in its viewership. The channel is now among the top five Hindi channels.
