SURAT: An HIV positive man allegedly bit the finger of a
CISF jawan after he was stopped during checking near Ram Nagar crossroads on Tuesday evening.
The 42-year-old man was spotted loitering on road near the crossroad. When a policeman asked him to stop, he started running.
Meanwhile, CISF jawan tried to stop him.
However, he bit the jawan’s finger. The accused was caught from the spot and an offence was registered against him on Wednesday. He was booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other sections of IPC.
The jawan, who is posted at Kandla port, was sent for medical examination at New Civil Hospital (NCH) and has been advised preventive medicine course.
"It is a shocking incident that a jawan trying to protect people is attacked by a person who is infected with HIV," said R B Brahmbhatt, police commissioner. Police got test of the man done in hospital for verification.
