MUMBAI: In all, 1.09 lakh people in the state have been home
quarantine and 8,051 in institutional quarantine as of on Wednesday, a s per the state’s data. Of these, at least 50% are from Mumbai alone.
Senior state officials said people in institutional quarantine were easy to keep tabs on. Also, the government was not using institutional quarantine facility largely as it was keeping it for cases where high-risk
contacts are from dense pockets, like in the case of Worli or Dharavi.
“With several being tested, we are asking high-risk contacts of positive patients who have tested negative to be in home quarantine,” said an official. Many districts have apps to track these people and some are using GPS to track movement of people.
