*Another day of 100-plus cases took UP’s Covid tally to 1,465 on Wednesday even as 11 persons were discharged after recovery. While the state reported 101 cases on Wednesday, the total number of persons discharged reached 173, showing a recovery rate of 11.8% Record 5,814 tests were conducted in UP in the past 24 hours – maximum so far.
*After being arrested for hiding his travel history and assisting members of the Tablighi Jamaat in their stay in the city, AU political science professor could now face suspension and even termination from service according to the university rules.

*Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has welcomed the ordinance brought in by the Union cabinet on Wednesday which provides strict punishment for attack on health workers involved in control and management of Covid-19.
*Amid coronavirus lockdown, there is some good news from agricultural sector in Varanasi region. For the first time, a consignment of four tonnes of green vegetables including chilli, cucumber and bottle gourd (lauki) has been sent to Delhi to be exported to the UK, which is reeling under the onslaught of the virus.
*Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will use drones to spray disinfectants in Covid-19 hotspots to reduce the number of sanitation workers deployed in these areas and use the manpower in other areas.
*Private fourwheelers, including ones attached with government offices or officers travelling without a valid pass issued by the district administration, will be booked under Motor Vehicle Act or seized from Friday.
*Uttar Pradesh government expanded the use of pool testing in the state. After KGMU, RIMS Saifai and LLRM medical college in Meerut also undertook pool testing successfully.
*During a review of the lockdown on Wednesday, the CM said, “All those people who have been sent home from quarantine shelters and students who returned from Kota (Rajasthan), should be spoken to routinely through the CM Helpline 1076 and asked to remain in mandatory home quarantine for 14 days.”
*Uttar Pradesh government has said it would help people, who are stranded in UP due to lockdown, reach their native places if their governments allow them to return.
