100 Kashmiris stuck in Punjab want to be with families

BARNALA/LUDHIANA: Sixty persons from Kashmir valley, including six women and four children, are stuck in Barnala due to the imposition of curfew. And 40 more are stranded in Ludhiana district. Not only they complain of having exhausted their savings, they also said this being Ramadan month, it is cruel that they could not be with their families back home.
Special police officer Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh is also waiting to go home. He said he had sustained some injuries in an attack in the Valley and had gone for medical assistance at Sir Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi. He came to Barnala to visit relatives before going back home when the lockdown was put in place. “I applied for e-pass, but did not get any,” added Sheikh.
Another one of those waiting to return from Barnala, Jasmin Bano said whatever she and her family had earned by selling blankets has been spent by now. Barnala SDM Anmol Singh Dhaliwal said the district administration has sent the list of people stuck in Barnala to the state government for advice.
