A couple in their 40s were found dead under mysterious circumstances inGota area of Ahmedabad. The incident came to light on Tuesday after the company in which the man worked raised alarm, following failure to contact him, and asked his subordinate to call on him.
The deceased have been identified as Kala Sona Roy and his wife Paromita Roy. Roy had been working as a mechanical manager with Arvind Mills for 10 years and lived in a rented apartment atShayona Tilak , Gota, for two years.
According to residents of the society, the company was trying to contact Roy for more than two days. After all efforts went in vain, they asked Roy's subordinate to visit his residence at Shayona. When no one opened the door and foul smell was found emanating from the house, the subordinate informed other society members and called police. Cops arrived and summoned the landlord. On opening the door, the couple were found dead. Police sources said the house was locked from inside and there were no signs of break-in. Police suspects the couple could have ingested poison to end life though it will be confirmed only after the post mortem report is filed.
The deceased couple did not have any children and hardly mingled with other society members. A Shayona Tilak resident told Mirror, "They were good people but didn't interact much with other residents. They were always cooperative when it came to making voluntary contribution for organising various events in the society likeNavratri . Roy's wife was equally reserved and did not interact with other women of the society."
Another resident said once or twice a year the couple, hailing fromWest Bengal , was visited by Roy's sister and brother-in-law.
Roy's subordinate Kalpesh, who lived in the same society and had gone to check on him, said, "He was a happy-go-lucky person and always smiling. I had last met him four days ago within society premises when he had told me he was getting out of his house after three days. Even in the office, he was easy to work with."
Sola-HC police station's PI J PJadeja said, "The house was locked from inside and no suicide note has been found. The couple did not suffer from any medical condition, as per preliminary investigation. We are exploring various aspects of the case and trying to establish how they ended their life. We will know it when the toxicology report is submitted."
A police source said considering the state of decomposition of the bodies, the couple could have died two days ago.
