NEW DELHI: The number of Covid-19 containment zones in Delhi witnessed a slight increase on Wednesday with only two new areas being added to the expanding zone. Both the new areas are in Lado Sarai under South district. The number of containment zones stood at 89 while the number of total coronavirus positive cases rose to 2248 - 92 cases were reported in last 24 hours.
F-313, Near Shiva Mandir Lado Sari and F-274, 2nd Floor of Lado Sari were declared one containment zone while F-258, Campa Cola Gali Lado Sarai was declared another containment zone after Covid-19 positive cases were reported from the areas.
All the areas have been sealed with barricades and movement of people have been stopped into the zones or out of the zones. The government will carry out screening of people in the containment zones to detect people infected with coronavirus; extensive sanitization drive has also been launched to disinfect the areas.
In none of the 10 other districts any new containment zone was created. All the 11 districts have containment zones where the government has launched measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.
