CHANDIGARH: The
Haryana home minister
Anil Vij on Wednesday cautioned the
politicians, especially the MLAs as well as former MLAs against the
breach of
lockdown during their visits to public places, especially the procurement sites.
During his interaction with media persons on a digital platform, Vij said that district magistrates have been given necessary instructions related to breach of lockdown rules.
'` Whether the politicians, leaders, MLAs and ministers from ruling side or from the opposition, rule is for everybody and they are not supposed to defy the lockdown rules. We have already asked few politicians to cancel their program. One thing is certain that lockdown is likely to be defied during visit of politicians at grain markets. Hence , they should discourage the visits and share suggestions will local authorities,'' said Vij.
This has to be strictly followed, else we have sufficient provisions of penal action for the violation of prohibitory orders, he added.
Notably, the development came a day after INLD MLA
Abhay Singh Chautala had visited the grain markets and allegedly addressed the farmers while referring to faulty procurement system.
Similarly, former minister and AICC communication chief
Randeep Surjewala too had plans to visit the grain markets on Wednesday.
Reacting to Vij's move, Surjwala termed it as a move to gag the voice off opposition. `` Instead of taking action against opposition or to curtail its voice, government should make efforts to streamline the procurement system. opposition will continue to raise issues,'' said Surjewala.
